 Unlike Matt I do not have CAD, and all the other fancy programs he will be using. 

I have MS Paint.

 

 

My idea it much like the Ariel Atom, but with the same 1000cc R1 power plate and rear differential that Matt will be using. However I am going turbo as well.

 

 

So here is the first drawing. Yes it is rough and will soon be expanded on.

Like every enthusiast, I’ve been mulling this idea over for some time. Currently in my final year of Mechanical Engineering, I finally decided to go for it. The idea was to use this experience to test what I’ve learned and build on it.

So after mentioning the idea to Derek, this contest was born. It should be fairly interesting if we can pull this off. I will be using all the tools at my disposal, Cad software, FEA software, rapid prototyping and other cutting edge manufacturing processes.

My design idea is a 2 seat coupe, powered by a Yamaha R1 engine coupled to a chain drive differential commonly used in FSAE cars. The rough dimensions I’ve settled on are 112” x 60-70” x 40”.

2008 SEASON

Thanks to everyone that participated in the 2007 and 2006 seasons.  They were a great success.

I hope you had as much fun as we did.

TO kick off the 08 season i have booked 2 track days. Both are at the Dunnville AutoDrome, and both days are on Holiday Mondays.  That means no work!

NO DRIFTING AT EITHER EVENT

Both events will be open lapping.  If 2 visible groups emerge we will split them up.

For those newer or less experienced drivers, or those looking to refine their skills, we will have a pro driver out for May 19th to provide any pointers, instruction and ride alongs.

Sasha Anis place first in the Canadian Couring Car championship GT and ran in the Speed World Challenge.  He will be competing in the Grand-am Koni Challenge this year.  Sasha will also be promoting his shop Sequence Garage. (www.sg-motorsport.com)

The cost per event per car is $120.

Second drivers are an additional $25.

Helmets are HEAVILY recommended, and required for all convertables and softtops.

Same as last year we will have the grill going with burgers and hot dogs for $2 and drinks for $1.

As always there will be a maximum of 12 cars on the track at any one time and a hard cap of 35 cars at the event. (plus staff)

=Rules of Engagement=

  • All Events are Rain or Shine.
  • All vehicles must be “safe”.  Any vehicle deemed not track worthy by any track or lapping day staff, will not be allowed on the track. If its not safe enough to drive on the street I wont allow it on the track.
  • No passing except on straights, with a signal from leading driver.
  • Pass on the LEFT HAND SIDE and only AFTER receiving a signal from vehicle ahead.
  • When being passed, pull to the right of the road and slow to allow for a safe and easy pass.
  • Helmets are absolutely mandatory.  A helmet can be had for $100 new, even cheaper used.  Your life is worth it.
  • If you have no track experience or have never been to the venue before you will be required to go for a ride-a-long with an experienced driver.
  • Anyone not playing by the rules will be removed from the venue and banned from all future events
  • For those newbies, Both Jimmy and Sasha have offered to take people out to help them get to know the track and proper technique
